General Information

When looking for siding contractors in Calgary, choose those with local experience, a solid reputation, and detailed proposals. Verify their licensing, insurance, and customer reviews. At TRU Exteriors, we meet industry standards and ensure compliance, giving you peace of mind and protecting your investment.

We are a full-service renovation company that offers window, door and roofing services in addition to our main scope of siding work. We have been in the industry for 16+ years and are Elite Preferred James Hardie contractors. Our focus is always on quality, meeting building code and following manufacturer best practices. We also offer a 10-year warranty on all of our siding installs. We only use premium materials and maintain open communication throughout every project.

We provide expert consultations based on your home’s needs, climate suitability, and design preferences. When considering a residence, there are two major factors: project budget and product design. The products that we offer are maintenance-free and climate-suitable (hail, fire, and pest-resistant).

Please refer to your community’s architectural controls or homeowner association guidelines. Where needed, we can assist you in ensuring your siding selections comply with local design requirements.

Siding Options & Materials

Durable options like fibre cement, engineered wood and metal perform well against Calgary’s temperature fluctuations and extreme weather.

Fibre cement siding is fire, hail, rot and pest-resistant. It is a durable, low-maintenance product that offers a variety of aesthetic options, including lap siding, board and batten and shingle.

While it can be painted, we recommend the pre-finished James Hardie ColorPlus™ collection, which offers 19 unique colour options and a strong 30-year manufacturer’s warranty.

With proper care, James Hardie siding can last up to 30 years, offering excellent durability against weather and wear.

Installation & Renovation

Costs vary based on your home’s size, chosen materials, and project complexity. For more pricing information, please contact us to schedule a site visit and receive a personalized quote. Site visits typically last 20 minutes, with detailed estimates provided within a week. During busy times, such as after hailstorms, timelines may be longer.

Look for signs like warping, cracks, fading, high energy bills, or water damage. A professional inspection can confirm if a replacement is needed. Assess what your siding needs are. Are you thinking about adding insulation? Do you want something maintenance-free? A good time to replace your siding is when you’re looking to have windows and doors installed or add insulation to increase the efficiency of your home.

Yes, replacing windows and doors first allows for proper building envelope sequencing when installed with new siding. Replacing windows or doors first is recommended to prevent damaging new siding and ensure an appropriate fit. We understand budget can sometimes mean that certain items may need to be replaced out of sequence, and there are ways that we can install siding to allow for windows to be replaced at a later date.

A full renovation includes disposal and removal of all existing siding, installation of new siding, and replacement of soft metals (soffit, fascia, eavestrough, and downspouts). Optional upgrades like exterior insulation are also available.

Yes, we remove old siding to ensure a proper installation and a clean finish. This allows us to inspect the condition of existing wall sheathing and warranty your new building envelope.

Yes, because of the type of products we install, we can work year-round, including the winter months. A few challenges come with a winter install, such as delayed paint touch-ups and more.

Services & Support

No, as we are a full renovation company, we do not do repairs or partial siding jobs.

Yes, during the pricing stage, we offer visual renderings, and we also have a showroom where we can schedule a meeting with one of our estimators to view and discuss siding material options. We are happy to help you choose the best materials and colours to match your home’s style and any personal preferences you may have.

We offer our own in-house 10-year workmanship warranty and ensure all products are installed according to manufacturer best practices ensuring that their warranties are intact. James Hardie, for example, offers a 30-year product warranty.

While we don’t handle insurance claims directly, we can provide guidance on the process, including advising on any rebate programs and comparable pricing for upgrading your siding to a more durable product.

Our full renovation packages include soffit, fascia, eavestrough, and downspouts. If you only require replacing some of these items, we can assess them to see what can be salvaged with the renovation. Please note that these items must be replaced upon demolition in some cases, such as stucco demolition.
